Kingston Wins First in South Africa
17/12/2007
Local favorite and FootJoy players James Kingston completed an emotional victory at the South African Airways Open, holding off the challenge ofhis closest competitor en route to earning his native country's national championship. Final round play was suspended for nearly four hours after persistent rain overnight made the course unplayable at the Pearl Valley Golf Estates.
It marked the first career victory for Kingston, a 20-year veteran of professional golf. He closed with consecutive 71's on the weekend to finish with an overall score of 278 (-4), one clear of his closest pursuer.
James wore FJ shoes and glove for his big win. A pair of black /black lizard in-lay Classics Dry Premiere shoes (#50756) provided comfort and stability while a SciFlex glove allowed him to take firm grip of the winner's trophy.
